Amaltas College of Education, Indrapuri, Rohtas, commemorated National Mathematics Day with a two-day celebration on 22nd and 23rd December 2025, honouring the birth anniversary of legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
The first day’s programme, held in the Multipurpose Hall, featured student-led performances and tributes. Anchored by Nikita Kumari, the event opened with a speech on Ramanujan’s life and contributions by Rekha Kumari. Pratibha Kumari presented mathematical puzzles that challenged students’ problem-solving abilities, while Puja Kumari recited a poem honouring the legacy of Indian mathematics. Pushpraj Kumar added a dance performance to the celebrations.
A highlight of the day was a role play performed by Pushpraj, Anjali, Ridhi, Soma, Amarjeet, Shabnam, and Geeta, bringing to life the relevance of mathematics in everyday life. Saloni Kumari then conducted a rapid-fire round that tested students’ mathematical knowledge and quick thinking. The first day concluded with a vote of thanks by Ridhi Kumari, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
On 23rd December, Shri Shashi Kumar Shekhar, UGC-certified IKS Master Trainer and Assistant Professor at Amaltas College, addressed the B.Ed. first-year students (2025–27 batch). His session explored the rich mathematical heritage found in ancient Indian scriptures, demonstrating how these texts presented sophisticated mathematical principles and innovations that predated comparable Western discoveries by several centuries.
