Amaltas College of Education observed International Literacy Day on 8 September 2025 with a series of programmes highlighting the importance of literacy in the digital age. The occasion also coincided with the birth anniversary of Dr. Saroj Agarwal, founder of the college and a lifelong advocate of education, to whom a floral tribute was offered.
As a run-up to Literacy Day, B.Ed. trainees Hemant, Afzal Sulemani, Nanda, Tinku, Preeti, and Arzoo, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Shashi Kumar Shekhar, conducted a 15-day Computer-Assisted Instruction Workshop with students of the local Middle School, Indrapuri. The schoolchildren from Classes 6–8 were first assessed for their digital literacy skills, then participated in an intervention programme held in the college computer lab, and finally undertook a post-assessment to measure the effectiveness of the training.
An essay competition on “The Role of ICT in Promoting Literacy” was also held, coordinated by Assistant Professor Akhilesh Kumar Srivastava. In the D.El.Ed. category, Sadia Khanam, Gulshan Khatoon, and Poonam Kumari secured the top three positions, while in the B.Ed. group, Sahadev Kumar, Pooja Kumari, and Babli Kumari were declared winners.
The celebrations further included a thought-provoking play titled “Ek Masla”, staged by D.El.Ed. trainees under the direction of Assistant Professor Roshan Kumar, and a poster exhibition on literacy prepared under the guidance of Dr. Prithviraj and Sumant Pandey.
To spread awareness beyond the campus, a literacy rally was also organized in the local community.
