Pratham Workshop Trains B.Ed. (2024–26) Students to Teach Language and Mathematics for Grades 6–8

Amaltas College of Education conducted a four-day workshop from 8–11 October 2025 for the B.Ed. (2024–26) batch in collaboration with Pratham Foundation. This training focused on developing effective teaching strategies for Grades 6–8, with particular emphasis on addressing learning gaps in language and mathematics.

As a prelude to the in-person workshop, the trainees first received online training from Pratham experts on how to conduct pre-assessments of schoolchildren. A select group of 22 student-teachers then visited five government schools in Tilothu and Indrapuri, where they assessed the learning levels of over 300 students from Grades 6–8. The assessment identified children who were struggling with foundational skills in language and mathematics.

The four-day in-person workshop, led by trainers from Ranchi, Jharkhand, was designed to equip the student-teachers with classroom pedagogy and intervention techniques to help students reach grade-level competencies. The sessions included demonstrations, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice in developing lesson plans and activity-based learning methods.

Following the workshop, 22 student-teachers will implement this pedagogy during a 21-day teaching intervention as part of their 16-week school internship, after which a post-assessment will be conducted to evaluate progress.

This initiative represents a highly successful addition to the B.Ed. curriculum, integrating its theoretical foundations with evidence-based pedagogy, and extending the college’s partnership with Pratham Foundation.
